2008 Possible Dates
The U has a lot of scheduling conflict this summer, so dates are harder to come by. There is a Friday and Saturday date on the 25th and 26th of July that would be available. Please sound off in the discussion forum about whether or not these dates will be okay.
What is A Gathering of Strangers?
A Gathering of Strangers started out as a simple idea of trying to get local gamers from all around Utah and the surrounding states together to play games. The first convention was planned and organized by Travis Bridges and Ryan McLelland. They had a lot of help from the local gaming community and the first event was heavily sponsored by Game Night Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. Additional sponsors came on board as the convention drew closer and the initial ticket sales for the first convention topped the 100 person mark. A Gathering of Strangers will continue to be held as an annual event with smaller events happening in the winter months.
When is A Gathering of Strangers held?
The main convention was originally held in the summer during the last week of June. Future conventions may be moved into July. Exact dates will be made available in the Spring each year once room reservations have been made. Smaller meetings may be held in the winter months and will be announced on this site as soon as they are available.

What is the cost to attend?
The cost for each event will be announced when the room reservations are made. Every effort to keep the cost down as low as possible will be taken. A reduced rate will be charged for those that pre-register. Those that register at the door will pay a few dollars more.
What is there to do at the convention?
Most first time attendees don't know what to expect at A Gathering of Strangers. The biggest part of each event is open gaming. We feel that people want to come and play the games they want to play. Everyone is encouraged to bring games they want to play, and get them to the table. We will have scheduled events such as demos and tournaments during the convention, but a good part of your time will be spent playing games others have brought with them. If you are interested in running a demo of your favorite game let us know and we will schedule it for you. We are always looking for people to help run events. We will also try to maintain a good game library for those that are looking to play something they don't own. Please let us know if there is a specific game you are looking to play and we will try to arrange for a copy to be available in the game library.
